TravelBuddy ("we", "our", "the app") is a travel planning app that helps you organize trips, bookings, packing lists, and travel documents. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address — used for account creation, login, and account recovery
- Display name — shown to trip collaborators you invite
- Profile photo — optional, displayed on your profile and shared trips
Trip Data
- Trip details — names, destinations, dates, bookings, packing lists, documents, and saved places you create
- Collaboration data — trip member lists and invitation status when you share trips
Automatically Collected
- Device model and app version — included when you submit feedback (only if you choose to send feedback)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and maintain the TravelBuddy service
- Sync your trip data across your devices
- Enable trip collaboration with people you invite
- Process your feedback when you choose to send it
We do not:
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Use your data for advertising or tracking
- Share your data with third-party analytics services
- Profile your travel behavior for marketing purposes
Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit
- Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data and trips you're a member of
- Authentication uses secure one-time passwords or Sign in with Apple
- API communication uses HTTPS exclusively
Data Sharing
Your trip data is shared only with:
- Trip collaborators — people you explicitly invite to your trips can see shared trip details
- Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider, which processes data on our behalf
We do not share data with any other third parties.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage (supabase.com/privacy)
- Apple MapKit — address autocomplete suggestions (processed on-device, governed by Apple's privacy policy)
Your Rights
You can:
- Access your data at any time within the app
- Edit or delete your trips, bookings, and personal information
- Delete your account — go to Profile → Delete Account to permanently remove all your data
- Export your data — contact us for a copy of your stored information
Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active
- Deleted items are soft-deleted and permanently removed within 30 days
- If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed
Children's Privacy
TravelBuddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or via email.
